"Point
of Generation" is
managing each waste
stream at the point
where the waste is
generated. The employee
will then choose the
proper container to
place it in for
disposal.
"Point of Generation"
containers are examined
for appropriateness of
size, placement and
contents. Generally,
regulated medical waste
containers contain a
high percentage of non
medical waste material,
and solid waste
containers contain a
high percentage of
recyclable material.
Proper segregation
substantially reduces
the cost of disposing
both waste streams.
Revenues are available
for certain recycled
items and regulated
medical waste cost is 5
times more expensive
than solid waste. |
